Meet the AMA Board Members
Kevin Taylor - President
I'm a fourth year Marketing Management major from Lodi, California. I love the outdoors... hiking, backpacking, running, cycling... it doesn't matter what I'm doing, I just want to be outside. I became involved with AMA my first week as a freshman at Poly, and being in the club (and eventually running it) has been the greatest honor and the best learning experience I've had during my student career. I believe if you are going to do something, you had better put in your full effort, or you are simply wasting your time.
Alex Robinson - Vice President
I'm a 4th year econ major with a concentration in marketing. I'm originally from Brentwood in the East Bay area, and now I spend the majority of the year living in SLO going to Poly and working as a Marketing Development Representative at Shopatron. When I'm not using my marketing mastermind at work or at school I enjoy riding my bicycle and motorcycle, going to the beach, hiking, road trips, hanging out with my friends and enjoying the SLO life. AMA has provided me with invaluable experience I wouldn't be able to learn in a classroom, an awesome job and a great network of professionals and driven students.
Sam Cates - Vice President of Marketing
My name is Samuel Cates, and I’m a second year Marketing Management student from San Diego, California. I have a passion for cars and am striving for a career in the automotive industry after graduation. I truly believe AMA offers an excellent learning and career development opportunity for every marketing student at Cal Poly. Even if only listening and learning from the weekly speakers, the experiences and knowledge shared by each professional provides invaluable insight into the actual working world, which no traditional classroom setting can replicate. AMA is a perfect complement to your marketing academic curriculum.
Angela Bloomquist - Vice President of Activities
Hello AMAzing members! I am Angela Bloomquist, a 4th year Marketing major. I grew up in San Carlos, just south of San Francisco. As the VP of Activities, I plan social and professional events for the club and the members. I currently work at The Dolphin Bay Resort & Spa as the assistant to the Catering Director where I help plan special events. Through AMA, I have met some of my closest friends, learned about different paths in the marketing industry, and found my niche in the college. If you want to have some fun, learn more about marketing and get more connected to the college, AMA is the place for you! See you at our meetings!
Andrea Lemos - Vice President of Community Relations
Hi! I am the Vice President of Community Relations for AMA.I am a fourth year Marketing major from the small town of Clayton, which is in the East Bay, about 45 minutes from San Francisco. I joined AMA my sophomore year and have loved every minute of it- participating in the community events, fun hang-outs, and professional events. I also love marketing because it is on the creative end of business, and I wish to pursue a career working in advertising, graphic design, or public relations. I found my love for graphic communications at my internship last summer at Tony La Russa’s Animal Rescue Foundation where I designed their 2010 Celebrity Pet Calendar using InDesign, which was an amazing experience! Last year, I was a part of the Relay for Life Committee at Cal Poly and chairing the marketing committee for that. Also, I am a huge coffee addict and work at Julian’s Patisserie in the campus library. In my free time, I enjoy going to the beach and skim-boarding, hiking, and hanging out with friends.
